Jerry Byrd edition, maybe playing his Trotmore guitar.
Jerry gave that guitar to Ray Knapp, who lived in Kehei, Maui. He also gave him his Big gold Buick car.
He got a job playing on a cruise ship that went around the islands.
When he stopped on Kauai, we'd go to their great buffet.
While I'm talking story, Ray was from Jerry Byrd's area in Ohio and, after his wife died, He had followed Jerry to Hawaii. he wanted some companionship.
He thought, If he got himself a tan, he could attract a companion.
He fell asleep in the fierce tropical sun and got badly sunburned.
After a bit, all the burnt skin peeled off and he looked like a Zebra.
He went on to work at the Old Lahina Luau.
Jerry Byrd came to a gig of his, on Maui with The Waihehu Sons. A great memory sitting there..
Ray had recorded on their record.
A the time, he shared a house with a couple of gorgeous models in Kihei.
Jerry called him "Knappasan". (Japanese)
